Brent Rawlinson
Artist Statement
Whether its film photography using antiquated cameras, hacking VCRs and old videogame consoles to produce analog visuals to accompany music, or reconstructing vintage clothes, Brent has an admiration for the byproducts of the past. In a modern commercial world of disposable product, Brent finds ways to repurpose, reuse, redesign, and ultimately re-appreciate the forgotten relics of yesteryear.
This Do-It-Himselfer graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a degree in Music Business and Entrepreneurship. Brent currently works at the Lomography Gallery Store Chicago as well as building his own vintage business.
Much of Brent’s work, life, art, and esthetic appreciation revolve around the concept of “collections”. Meticulously gathered and pruned to be a visual representation of a simple concept. His photography is simply a collection of the people he has met, the places he has been, and the interesting and peculiar things he has found along the way.
